Hello McKenzie Towne families,

As you may know, next week is an important week with regards to Indigenous Learning.

June is Indigenous History Month and June 16th-20th is Indigenous Awareness Week.  Over the next couple of weeks your children will be involved in deepening their learning about Indigenous history.  They will spend time journaling in nature, planning our outdoor learning space, using OH-KIA-KIO-SII-TOAP "Look Carefully" to investigate new things, practicing some words in local Indigenous Languages, reading stories and viewing resources that were created by Indigenous peoples as well as many other activities related to this special time.

During this time they will also reflect on what they have learned from Hal Eagletail and consider what they would like to learn from him next year when he returns.

On Friday June 20th, I will lead the students in a mindfulness activity that will help them connect to themselves and to nature.
