Remembrance Day Assembly

Tomorrow morning at 10:30am, the Grade 4 Classes will be hosting our Remembrace Day Assembly.

Parents are welcome to attend. Please bring a donation for a poppy.

Dressing for the Cooler Temperatures

Now that the weather is changing, families should ensure they are prepared for all weather conditions.

  • Children should be well prepared and dressed for the weather. Students will continue to go outside for recess unless the temperature is below -20. Please label all outdoor wear to help with lost items.
  • Children will find it easier to walk through the ice and snow when their school books and lunches are carried in a back pack.
  • Children should not be left unattended at bus stops for any period of time, under any circumstances. They should have clear instructions on how long to await for the bus and what to do if the bus does not arrive.
  • Families should ensure that they have back-up care arrangements if transportation is delayed.

Mr. V will be taking students outside this week for gym. Please make sure your child has the proper clothing for outdoor play. The office does not have clothing to provide to students.

The lost and found box is quickly filling up again. All items left by November 15, will be donated.

Casino Fundraiser - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Our Casino Fundraiser Event will be taking place on November 26 and 27 at Deerfoot Inn and Casino.

This is our biggest fundraiser by far, usually raising $40,000-$80,000 for the school to use over the next three years. Proceeds fund residencies, subsidise field trip bussing, buy supplies that benefit the whole school such as library books, and much more.

How it works – We provide volunteers to work at Deerfoot Inn and Casino for two days and the casino donates some of the profits to the school. An advisor trains all the volunteers’ onsite so no prior experience or special skills are necessary. Unlike other school volunteering opportunities, police clearance is NOT required. Some positions must be filled by parents/guardians of children in the school but other positions (cashier, chip runner, and count room staff) can be filled by any adult, including friends or neighbours. Meals are included for volunteers during their shifts.

PLEASE SIGN UP FOR A SHIFT BELOW.
